Catching Fire Movie Review

Tonight was the big night.   I had been waiting forever for this movie to come out.  To be honest it's been a long while since I've read these books.  I really really liked the movie.  I thought it was a great... romance, humor, drama, action.  The movie has it all.

Just like the book the movie gets the love triangle going.. and does a good job of it. I usually can't stand it but I found it entertaining in the movie.  I really enjoyed the arena parts of the film.  Great great!  As usual the costumes are fantastic! I like that they were inspired by actual runway looks.  If you really love the fashion like I do there is a whole website dedicated to the Hunger Games Fashion.

And my favorite:

I am still not sure how I feel about the last book being made into two movies. They did the same thing with the whole Twilight series, Harry Potter, and now the Hunger Games.  For those that don't know about the Hunger Games or what is going on it is recapped here.  I think this movie does a great job keeping to the book... which is what us book lovers always want!!  Go and see it!

  1. I love the costume design! The costume designer put a great deal of work into that just like the movie Alice in Wonderland featuring Johnny Depp--the dresses were gorgeous.

I am not the biggest fan of The Hunger Games nor have read the books, but i have seen the first movie and why do they have to go back in the arena, I got no clue about that. But i'll probably watch it, just to make fun it . XD I'm glad you are excited for it, so don't take my hating of this movie too seriously. It might be better than the first movie.

Oh and doing two parts for the last movie. WHY?! Come on people, I know you want to money, but dragging it out is not the way to go.

Have a lovley Sunday, hopefully you get to watch this one soon. ^^

    1. Hating on movies and making fun of them is great! I mean... have you seen Sharknado? We had a whole party at my house to watch it and scream at the screen and laugh!! I can't stand this whole taking the last movie and splitting it in two. Such a money maker. I forgot the Hobbit is doing it too. Not just two movies but THREE!

  2. Nice review. Though it is essentially a young adult tale, it doesn't feel like that, hence why it can practically be viewed and enjoyed by anybody.

    1. I would totally rock that butterfly dress. I mean... they need to make one for me! And the wedding dress!! LOVE! Though I did like the runway look a little better for that outfit.

  6. GOSH those costumes were beautiful! Especially the wedding dress <3 Just watched this movie, and even if they changed some details, the changes actually worked and I love that. Can't wait for Mockingjay! I'm actually thankful that it's been split into two XD More for me! Haha :D

    1. I just hope that they do a good job with splitting it. I still feel it was unnecessary to split Twilight into two movies. Harry Potter on the other hand did a really good job with it.

  7. I've still not seen Catching Fire, and I need to work out when I'm going to watch it.

But...I wanted to chip in and say that I'm not a fan of the last book being turned into two films. I think it's unnecessary, and it's a completely commercial decision. The book is not any longer than the first two, it's not split into different viewpoints or anything that would require two films. In fact, if anything, large chunks of the stuff going on in Katniss's head could be got rid of for the film.

    *steps off soapbox*

    Sorry!

    1. Twice already!! You sound like my husband. He sees movies twice all the time. Hobbit is coming... I am sure he will see that a few times before it's out of the theater.

  9. I never knew the outfits were inspired from the runway! Wow, I love it. I loved Catching Fire. I saw it today and was blown away by how strong every aspect of the film was. I'm okay with Mockingjay being two films- at this point, I have lots of trust in the film makers after two great movies. :)

    1. I hope it's the same director for the last two films. I thought he did a really really good job with Catching Fire!! I would totally wear that butterfly dress. Not sure where I would wear it.. but I love it!

  10. I just watched this today, and I loved it! I felt the same way about dividing the last book into two films, but if they are as good as this movie, I think I can live with that decision. I had no idea as well about the fashion website - so interesting to see these outfits out of Panem. :)

    1. Who know there was so much about fashion in this movie. I mean... I know the capital is really out there... but there is so much to it that I didn't realize.

    1. It is totally worth going and seeing this in the theater too. Movies are so damn expensive now. It was $12 to see it in non-IMAX.
